1. The “Lowercase y” Setup
- Narrow Stance: Keep your feet only two clubheads apart to stabilize your center.
- Weight Forward: Lean 70% of your weight on your lead foot. This ensures you hit down on the ball rather than scooping it.
- The “y” Shape: Align the club shaft with your lead arm to create a lowercase “y” shape. Maintain this rigid shape throughout the entire stroke.
2. The “Alignment Stick” Drill (15 Mins)
- Hold an alignment stick against your grip so it extends past your lead hip.
- The Fix: If the stick smacks your ribs, you’ve “flicked” your wrists. This drill forces you to rotate your chest to move the club.
- The Goal: Chip 10 balls in a row without the stick hitting your side.
3. The “Landing Zone” Game
- Stop aiming at the hole; aim at a Landing Spot about 1–2 paces onto the green.
- The Drill: Place a towel or hula hoop on that spot.
- Success Metric: Successfully land 5 balls in a row on the towel. This shifts your focus from the “scary” outcome at the pin to the “controllable” target on the turf.
